Tips on Enamel Protection

Posted .

Your tooth enamel, which is the outer surface of your teeth, is strong, but there are substances that can harm and destroy it. This means it still needs to be cared for regularly. If you protect your enamel and keep it in tip-top shape, there is a good chance your teeth will stay healthy and strong. To help you protect your enamel, Dr. James Voorhees has some tips.

The first thing you need to do is brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste that have been approved by the American Dental Association. These things safely clean your teeth, care for your gums, and strengthen your smile.

The second thing you need to do is floss your teeth once a day with a flossing product that is easy to use. This is strongly encouraged because flossing helps you remove food particles and plaque from between your teeth. If they are not removed regularly, they can attack the enamel and create cavities.

The third thing you need to do is have a tooth-friendly diet. This means you need to eat fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. It’s important to avoid eating acidic foods and drinking acidic beverages because the acid attacks the teeth and wears down the enamel.
